America's Cup. Marc Newson Art Edition
15000“There Is No Second”
A Celebration of Sailing’s Most Prestigious Competition
It’s the world’s oldest international sports competition. Its name conjures stormy seas, courageous crews, and entrepreneurs willing to risk everything. The America’s Cup is played out on a lavish scale—vast sponsorships, larger-than-life egos, and a hunger for victory that has spanned three centuries, pitting the most sophisticated yachts and best helmsmen against each other.
This Art Edition, produced in collaboration with Louis Vuitton and designer Marc Newson, features a case crafted from cotton sailcloth, fitted with a custom-made Louis Vuitton metal closure, plus a carbon fiber bookstand resembling the keel of a sailboat, in a salute to the technology that defines the sport.
The story of the Cup began in 1851, when the schooner America stunned the British fleet, winning a race around the Isle of Wight. The crew renamed the trophy in honor of their boat, declaring it a ‘perpetual challenge cup’. There have been 37 editions of the Cup since that inaugural upset, with the New York Yacht Club holding it for 132 years—the longest winning streak in sporting history. Today, Australia, New Zealand, and even landlocked Switzerland have claimed the ‘Auld Mug,’ proving that no champion is ever safe.
This very special edition, packed with rare archival material, unseen photographs, technical data and expert insights, celebrates the teams, tactics, and technology behind the world’s most prestigious yacht race. This isn’t just a chronicle of a competition—it’s a saga of human ambition, bravery, ingenuity, and the relentless pursuit of victory at all costs.
