General Terms & Conditions

1. Scope of Application

The following terms apply to all orders placed through our online store.

2. Contracting Party, Conclusion of Contract

The purchase agreement is made with TASCHEN GmbH.

The presentation of the products in the online store does not represent a legally binding offer but a non-binding online catalog. For technical reasons, the images of the products may differ in color from the originals and the language edition shown on the pictures serves only as an example. You may add products to your shopping cart, with no obligation to purchase, and add or delete any or all of them at any time by using the correction assistance tools designed for this purpose and explained in the ordering process. By clicking the “place order & log out” button, you agree to a binding order of the articles in the shopping cart. You will receive an email confirming the receipt of the order immediately after the order has been placed. However, this confirmation email does not constitute the acceptance of your order. This takes place in a separate email containing a delivery confirmation or upon delivery of the goods.

Should products be out of stock, unavailable, or sold out, the customer will be informed. If delivery is temporarily not possible, the order, if possible, will be reserved. In the case of sold-out products, the order will be canceled and refunded, unless a new print run is planned in the upcoming months. Then you may opt for keeping the order as a pre-order.

The languages available for the conclusion of the contract are German, English, French, and Spanish . In case of conflict between the German, English, French and Spanish version of these Conditions, the German version shall prevail.

We do not store the text of the contract.

3. Delivery Conditions and Costs

In addition to the stated product prices, shipping fees may apply, which can be reviewed at checkout. For international deliveries, the customer is responsible for any additional taxes, customs fees, and import duties.

We only deliver by mail. Collection of goods is not possible.

4. Payment

The following payment methods are available in our store, depending on the country you are ordering from:

4.1. Credit Card

Your credit card will be charged as soon as the order is processed.

4.2. PayPal

You will pay the billing amount via the online provider, PayPal . You must already be registered there or sign up as a new customer, log in with your access data, and confirm the payment to us. You will be given further instructions at check out.

4.3. Klarna

You will pay the billing amount via the online provider, Klarna . You must already be registered there or sign up as a new customer, log in with your access data, and confirm the payment to us. You will be given further instructions at check out.

4.4. Apple Pay

You will pay the billing amount via the online provider, Apple Pay. You must already be registered there or sign up as a new customer, log in with your access data, and confirm the payment to us. You will be given further instructions at check out.

5. Pre-orders

You can pre-order items that have an expected shipment date in the coming months.


  • When purchasing a Pre-order, you will be among the first to reserve the item.
  • Estimated time frames are indicated on the product detail page and may take several months, potentially arriving sooner or later than estimated.
  • The purchase price will be deducted the same day that the order is placed.
  • Pre-order items will be shipped as soon as they are available.
  • If a Pre-order item can no longer be fulfilled, the amount paid will be refunded using the original payment method.

5.1. Reservation of Property Rights

Goods remain our property until payment is made in full.

6. Damage During Shipping

Should articles be delivered with obvious shipping damage, please issue a complaint with the delivery service as soon as possible and contact us promptly. Failure to file a complaint or contact us has no consequences for your legal rights and their enforcement, particularly your warranty rights. They do, however, help us file our own claims against the shipping carrier and/or shipping insurance.

7. Warranty and Guarantees

Unless expressly agreed otherwise below, statutory warranty rights apply.

8. Customer Service

You can contact our customer service department regarding questions, complaints, and claims by using our contact form or writing an email to customerservice@taschen.com.

9. Liability

Our liability is limited to the value of the product. We do not assume liability for slightly negligent breaches of insignificant contractual obligations. The liability limitations mentioned above do not apply to attributable bodily injury, illness, or death.

10. Online Dispute Resolution

Online dispute resolution in accordance with ODR-VO art. 14, para. 1: The European Commission provides an internet platform for online dispute resolution (ODR), which you will find by following this link. We hereby declare that we are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute settlement proceedings before a consumer arbitration body.

11. Minors

The products offered in our online store are intended solely for customers 18 years of age and older.

12. Severability Clause

Should a provision of these General Terms and Conditions be or become invalid due to new statutory provisions, the remaining provisions shall remain valid. The parties agree to replace the invalid provision by a valid provision corresponding as far as possible with the economic meaning and purpose of the invalid provision.

Cancellation Policy

Right of Cancellation

You have the right to cancel this contract, without stating a reason, within 14 days.

The cancellation deadline is 14 days from the day you, or a third party appointed by you who is not the carrier, take possession of the last article.

The cancellation deadline is deemed observed if you send your declaration off before the deadline expiration.

Consequences of Cancellation

If you cancel this contract, we are required to promptly refund all payments (excluding shipping costs) we have received from you (with the exception of additional costs which are attributable to the fact that you selected a mode of delivery other than the least expensive standard shipping method we offer), within 14 days, at the latest, from the day we receive notice of your cancellation of this contract. This refund will be made with the same payment method you used in the original transaction unless it is expressly agreed with you otherwise. In no case will you be charged in connection with our refund. We are free to defer the refund until the articles have been returned to us or until you have provided us with proof that you have sent the articles to us, depending on which happens first.

You are required to promptly send the articles back to us no later than 14 days from the day you notify us of your cancellation of the contract. The deadline is deemed observed if you dispatch the articles before the end of this fourteen-day time limit. As soon as you have notified us of your cancellation, we will inform you how to return the article to us. You will only be liable for any loss of value of the articles if said loss is due to handling on your part beyond what is necessary to ascertain the nature, properties, and functioning of the articles.

For Returns in the United States and Canada

If the content of your order is incorrect, or arrives damaged, you are eligible for a full refund of the purchase price, including original shipping costs. If you received a damaged item, please contact us at contact-us@taschen.com with details of the defect, including pictures if possible.

If you are unhappy with your purchase for any other reason, please note that you will be responsible for the return shipping cost, which is non-refundable. Upon receipt of your return, we will refund the full purchase amount of the returned items. Shipping fees are non-refundable.

To receive a refund, please return your item/s to us within 14 days of the delivery date and in the same condition you received it.

Please make sure to include the original packing slip so the return can be identified.

Project Proposals

Our book projects are typically defined far in advance, meaning we are rarely able to accommodate additions to our upcoming editorial program. If you would nevertheless like to submit a proposal, please send a brief outline and a small selection of 1 – 5 accompanying images to contact@taschen.com. Files should not exceed 300 KB each. Your email will be forwarded on to the appropriate editorial department and you can expect to hear back from us within six weeks of your submission.

Artworks

Terms of delivery

TASCHEN ships artworks globally. Listed prices for our artworks are exclusive of shipping, which will be quoted on an individual basis. Shipping rates are determined based on the artwork size, weight, and the originating and destination addresses. We will confirm all shipping costs before finalizing your sale. All confirmed orders with cleared funds are dispatched as soon as possible, and typically within 10-20 business days, depending on the destination address. You will be notified immediately should delivery take longer than expected, and will receive tracking information by email when your order has been shipped.

Framing

Except where otherwise noted, TASCHEN prints are sold unframed. Upon request, we will be happy to provide guidance on appropriate framing options. Artworks that are part of a TASCHEN exhibition, if available, may be purchased with their original frames at an additional cost, which will be quoted on an individual basis.

Payment

Artworks may be subject to duties, taxes and/or fees, which will be calculated on the basis of your delivery address. We accept payments by credit card (AMEX, Mastercard, Visa), Paypal, and bank transfer.

Damaged goods

Great care is taken to ensure safe delivery, so receiving damaged art is a rare occurrence. We recommend handling of all unframed pieces by a certified art handler to avoid any unintended damage at the time of receipt/inspection. If your artwork is damaged in transit or faulty and you wish to order a replacement, please notify us within 3 days of receipt. Please save the box and all packaging material; we must have these items in order to process the claim.
