“I’m always trying to make every shot monumental.”

Albert Watson. KAOS
October 20 - December 31, 2017
TASCHEN Gallery is thrilled to announce the opening of KAOS, an exhibition of photographs by Albert Watson coinciding with the release of his TASCHEN Collector’s Edition of the same name.
Few photographers have a portfolio as dynamic or diverse as Watson. From a Las Vegas dominatrix to haunting Scottish landscape, Watson excels in capturing the surface seamlessly and probing its myriad depths. His celebrity portraiture on display, including his seminal portraits of David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Kate Moss, and Jack Nicholson, present an unparalleled ability to delve into the private persona behind the iconic façade. His dexterity as a master printer, hand-perfecting each edition in his New York studio, have made his photographic works some of the most collectable on the market today.
The exhibition marks Watson’s largest solo show in Los Angeles since the mid-90s.
Simultaneously on view in the gallery, a tribute to the legendary New York street photographer Arlene Gottfried is presented by Galerie Bene Taschen (Cologne) alongside works from Gregory Bojorquez, Jamel Shabazz, Jeff Mermelstein, and Joseph Rodriguez.
