Photographer and yogi Michael O’Neill embraces the first copies of On Yoga: The Architecture of Peace. Renowned for his photographs of the famous, O’Neill decided to devote himself to experience and record the world of yoga after it played a crucial role in his own life. In 2000, spinal surgery left him with a paralyzed arm. Through yoga he was able to “accept that handicap turned into a blessing.”

Over a near decade, he set out to make portraits of the most influential yogis of our time—B. K. S. Iyengar, Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, T. K. V. Desikachar, Rodney Yee, Colleen Saidman, Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa and to trek beyond the traditional epicenters to meditate with monks in the Tibetan Plateau, live with sadhus in their tents at the Kumbh Mela, and marvel at the boys who practice the little known discipline of Mallakhamba at the wrestling grounds in Kochi.

On Yoga: The Architecture of Peace brings this extraordinary body of work together for the first time, an enriching testimony to both the rich lineage and the global community of yoga, united in physical, spiritual, and mindful practice.
