Roberta J. Olson
Prof. Dr. Roberta J. Olson is an American art historian, curator, and author based at the New-York Historical Society. She received an MA from the University of Iowa in 1971, before obtaining her doctorate in Art History from Princeton in 1976 with a thesis on Sandro Botticelli. Following her studies, Olson taught as Assistant- and then Associate Professor of Art History (1975–1988) at Wheaton College, Norton, Massachusetts, before she was appointed Professor (1988–2000) and then Professor Emeritus at the same institution. Currently, she is Curator of Drawings at the New-York Historical Society, a post she has held since 1999. She is the author of Audubon’s Aviary (2012), and has curated a number of award-winning exhibitions on Audubon and The Birds of America.
