Jim Lee grew up in St. Louis and earned a psychology degree before exploding into comics in the late 1980s. One of seven best-selling artists who left Marvel in 1992 to form Image Comics, his widely accessible and successful WildStorm imprint led DC to purchase the company in 1998, allowing Lee to focus on producing smash-hit covers, miniseries, and story arcs. He was named DC’s co-publisher in 2010.
