Álvaro Siza

Álvaro Siza (born in 1933) studied at the University of Porto School of Architecture. Often described as “poetic Modernism,” his work earned him the European Community’s Mies van der Rohe Prize in 1988 and the Pritzker Prize in 1992. Siza is representative of the School of Architecture of his native Porto, where he taught for several years.
