Marvin E. Newman (1927–2023)
We are saddened by the passing of Marvin E. Newman, a pioneer in color street photography, whose images of a mid-century New York revolutionized how cities were depicted. Publisher Benedikt Taschen: “It was a pleasure to collaborate with Marvin on his long overdue monograph. His unique sensibility memorably captured New York’s chaos and beauty. An unassuming man, but a great talent, who will be missed.”
On the release of his TASCHEN book, Newman said:” My photographs will live on after me. Everything I wanted to put in a photograph is here.”
Our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Brigitte and son Harrison.
