Finance Director (m/f/d)

For our headquarters in Cologne, Germany, we are looking for a full-time Finance Director (m/f/d) to manage all financial aspects of the TASCHEN Group worldwide and ensure its long-term health and growth. This includes accounting, controlling and reporting for TASCHEN GmbH and its foreign subsidiaries, with responsibilities such as preparing annual and consolidated financial statements and all relevant reporting to the Executive Board and external partners. This role will also oversee the technical and organizational management of the Finance team. The continuous development and improvement of the department, including the implementation of any necessary optimization processes, is a key focus. The position reports directly to the Executive Board.      


  • Overall responsibility for accounting, controlling, and finance
  • Responsibility for accurate accounting as well as monthly, annual and consolidated financial statement preparation, in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB)
  • Contact person for tax consultants, auditors, lawyers and banks in Germany and abroad
  • Conducting business reporting and regular operational and financial reports
  • Management of the budget and preparation of updated forecasts
  • Management of the company's liquidity in coordination with the Executive Board
  • Continuous optimization of financial processes, in close cooperation with other relevant departments
  • Initiation and implementation of optimization tools, such as new software
  • Communication and cooperation with other company departments
  • Management of the Finance team at Cologne headquarters, consisting of 10 employees and additional external service providers    


  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of financial reporting, balance sheet/group accounting
  • Integrity and strong sense of accountability
  • Pragmatic, hands-on approach combined with a strategic mindset
  • Exceptional communication skills in German and English
  • Highly resilient and confident
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills, sound knowledge of ERP systems and BI tools
  • Successfully completed business studies (preferably in accounting or finance) or comparable training
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a similar function, ideally in a medium-sized, international, and owner-managed company
