Livre d'or

I think if Taschen paired up with Something Weird Video you could produce something truly special (in the vein of your History of Men's Magazines).

they are indeed very nice people at Something Weird, but most of what they have are poor quality film archives, not so easy to make into books.
, Mexique, février 01, 2012
Really? But all of their restored releases look so gorgeous on DVD (truly outstanding quality), and all of them have galleries that feature heaps upon heaps of exploitation art! Didn't Frank Henenlotter have at some point direct contact with all of those classic directors (HG Lewis, Doris Wishman, Andy Milligan, etc), or at least the people who own their stuff, and access to their archives? Damn, I thought that book was a definite possibility. Anyway, thank you so much for your answer, and I'm really looking forward for your future projects (bring them soon!!! please!!!)

So Mr. Duncan/Miss Hanson, could you give us a list of titles that are being considered for the next in the big film book series? I would think Chinatown or Apocalypse Now would be great choices. Also, what about The Last Emperor? Niki

Dear Niki, Yes, we are considering many films for future books, but everything takes time. There are archives and photos to find, people to convince, rights to secure, more people to convince/cajole/persuade, and a number of other mystical and mystifying practices that we employ at TASCHEN. This all takes a long time to get right. However long they may take, you know the books will be worth waiting for. Everything is possible, the impossible just takes longer. Best - paul

Wow Mr. Paul, you sure do have lots of steps to go through en route to publishing!! Good luck!! Any chance once you reach a decision on what to publish that you could announce it here in the guestbook? Niki

Solche APs dienen u.a. als Belegexemplare.

Dear Taschen, I cannot express my love in words to your company. I love everything about it so much and i follow your new books passionately. I am a 16 year old boy from Israel. My dream is to get the "Pedro Almodovar Archives" book with the "Volver" Film strip. I love Almodovar so much and he my favorite artist in the whole world. Unfortunately I can't afford buying this incredible book because my family can't afford the price. Best Wishes, Ori from Israel.

Dear Ori, We love Pedro Almodóvar too, which is why we spared no expense to make a big book with him. Believe me, it's worth saving up for. If all goes well, hopefully we'll release a cheaper, smaller edition in a few years time. Best, - paul

It's totally worth it. I was still in school when the Kubrick Archives were released, so I didn't have a chance to buy it (my family is seriously non-rich). By the time the Bergman book was released I already had a job and no children (this is important if you weren't born rich and want to be able to afford $200 books), so I got it, and then Kubrick (for triple its original price, but whatever), and now Almodovar, and I eagerly await for the next one, which I seriously hope is about David Cronenberg or Ken Russell or Woody Allen or David Lynch or the Coens. And in, say, 20 years or so, one about Wes Anderson (that'll be pretty), Lars Von Trier, Michael Haneke... (that probably won't happen, right? Not before Scorsese and Coppola, I suppose). I share Ori's enthusiasm about your company. I've loved you since I was a child. God I remember those first books about Dalí and Jeff Koons. Thank you for them!

Seriously: Cronenberg. From "Shivers" to "A Dangerous Method"? I can't think of a better choice.

Omg, John Waters! (I went back to the main page and there he was, talking about the Big Book of Pussy) Not only his films, but his art, and his writing, and his everything... somebody should document every book he owns, and every corner of his house (that Place Space book did an adequate job, but we didn't see every corner, and those stacks of books moved from one place to another), and every piece of clothing he's worn, and every clipping on his walls, and every scrapbook he's assembled (like the book on Bacon's Incunabula, only more thorough).

I simply adore the Mark Ryden Collectors Item(s), but cannot find that kind of money on my book budget. Will there be any possibility to purchase a more ordinary Mark Ryden volume? Peace to Taschen and bibliophiles all over the World.

Dear Charlotte, many thanks for your kind message. There will certainly be a trade edition of the splendid Marc Ryden book – only trade-off that it may still take a year or two. Best wishes, Florian
, Mexique, janvier 25, 2012
Unlike the "Obsessions of Robert Crumb"? What happened there? I remember the trade edition was annuounced ages ago, but never happened.
, Allemagne, janvier 26, 2012
Dear Pony, please stay tuned on Crumb, there is going to be news about him soon. Best wishes, Florian

Oh, I've read it in a recent Vice interview: " VICE: Let’s move on to a more pleasant topic. You’re releasing a ten-volume Taschen book project next year? CRUMB: Actually it’s all sketchbook material. Taschen thinks on a grandiose level. They wanted to do a giant book containing all of my work, like a fucking 100-pound book with everything I ever did in it, and I thought, “No, we’re not going to do that, forget it.” VICE: Why not? CRUMB: Why? For one thing, have you ever seen these Taschen big books? They’re ridiculous. You can’t even read it. You have to sit the book on a podium, turning the pages like a giant Bible in a church. That’s ridiculous, I don’t want anything like that. But I did agree to do this sketchbook project. Basically, it’s sketchbook material from the 1960s until 2011. It’s probably going to end up being 12 books instead of ten because I’m too egotistical to reject my own stuff. I don’t know when it’s going to come out. " Those big books are actually awesome. I wish he had agreed, but twelve sketchbooks sounds just as good.

I have a huge collection of amazing TASCHEN books of arhitecture art & illustration! I love it! I'm a children book illustrator. I have all of "illustration now" series books. But they are all for adults. Are you going to publish some time illustration now of children books illustrators or something similar? Thank you. Best regards, Vera.

Dear Vera, many thanks for your enthusiasm and fidelity with the Illustration Now!-series. You must have a look at our brand new book on The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm - it reads like the who is who of child book illustrators. And who knows, maybe one day there is going to be a volume dedicated to children in the IN-format, too! Best wishes, Florian
