I think you should add OMA, Richard Rogers, Ken Yeang, Norman Foster, Sanaa, Toyo Ito, Victor Horta, Philip Johnson, and Gehry to your Basic Arhictecture Series. But with good explanations and relevant-but concise- as-always text. And clear photographs that explain the project effectively, albeit being some project disposed in two pages, as many projects are disposed in the series.

Your Zaha Hadid book from the Basic Architecture series is not what I expected, myself owning 23 of this series. I think it is too superficial. Iliked the introduction - it's really good. But the descriptions of each project are too form-centered. Jodidio elaborates too concisely, not mentioning information on context, for example, and each of the building is explained almost exclusively on the form of the buildings. I know Hadid's work has been influential and striking because of its form in great measure, but the program of each building should be explained more in this book. How the fluidity of its interior espaces communicate with the parts of the program. Too general-a-look at Hadid's work, in my opinion. Maybe you could re-edit it. Oh, and thanks for teaching me graphic design with your books, they are thoughtful in layout, fine in their cleanliness and disposition of elements. I even sense love in the making of this books.

Thanks very much for your thoughtful comments! The Basic Architecture series is limited by its size and although it would be very useful to do just what you say, the intention here is not to be exhaustive. For more information, there is the bigger xl book. If you have a look at the architect's own information (web site) you will see that they are very form-oriented, and this may be one reason that this aspect of the work is emphasized in the Basic Architecture series book.

Again, thanks for your comments!

Best,
Philip Jodidio

Thank you for your response! My pleasure to receive a response from the book's author! I recognize these intentions you have as an editorial, but I feel there could be just one to three sentences more in each project page or more text in the photo captions for a more complete overview in the fields of context and technology - I don't mean an exhaustive one. Then, I feel Taschen has lose some of what is expected and what has been delivered with the series, and I feel this series has great potential for future releases, especially if there is slightly more info... and maybe I am not the only one of this opinion. Thanks again!

Dear Andrea, Many thanks for your interesting suggestion – Bernini’s sculptures are wonderful. A book on this artist is not yet one of our upcoming titles, but could be part of our future program. Meanwhile, you can enjoy Baroque art – including Bernini – in our comprehensive edition „Sculpture. From Antiquity to the Present Day“! Best wishes, Mahros

Yes, it would be fantastic!

Hello Ruby,

many thanks for your query. We are always interested in proposals of any kind, even though our program is usually extremely tight for years in advance: It is also important to bear in mind that we usually seek topics that are of global interest, as we are catering to readers all around the world.

Are you perhaps the next Michelangelo or Jeff Koons? :)
Then we would love to hear from you!

Best wishes,
Florian

Liebes TASCHEN-Team,

Florian
