Sante' D'Orazio to launch and sign his new book "Barely Private" at TASCHEN Store New York

December 01, 2009
TASCHEN Store New York, 107 Greene St., New York, NY 10012, United States

A decade after his sizzling debut A Private View, Sante D’Orazio has returned with "Barely Private", a second volume of his sexy, behind-the-scenes photography.

An intimate and raw look at the unseen sides of the fashion industry, "Barely Private" is a collage-style collection of Sante’s personal journal entries and private photographs. With candid shots of models and celebrities (including Jay-Z, Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Damien Hirst, and many more), Barely Private grants the viewer an uncensored glimpse into the jet-setting world of the stars.

On December 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Sante D’Orazio will be on hand at TASCHEN Store New York to sign or personalize your copy of "Barely Private" just in time for the holidays. We look forward to having you join us for what should be a wild night!

This event is free and open to the public, but due to space limitations we ask that you RSVP to store-ny(at)taschen.com.

Ellen von Unwerth to launch and sign her new book "Fräulein" at TASCHEN Store New York

December 11, 2009
TASCHEN Store New York, 107 Greene St, New York, NY 10012, United States

One of the world's most original and successful fashion photographers, Ellen von Unwerth, will be at the TASCHEN Store in New York December 11, from 7pm-9pm to launch and sign copies of her new sumptous Collector's Edition book "Fräulein".

Ellen von Unwerth was a supermodel before the term was invented, so she knows a thing or two about photographing beautiful women. As one of the most cutting edge photographers today, she pays homage to the world's most delectable females in "Fräulein".

This celebration of our era's sexiest female icons includes Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Vanessa Paradis, Britney Spears, Eva Mendes, Lindsay Lohan, Dita von Teese, Adriana Lima, Carla Bruni, Eva Green, Christina Aguilera, Monica Bellucci and dozens more.

Von Unwerth's singular vision embraces sexual intrigue, femininity, romance, fetishism, kitsch humor, decadence and sheer joie de vivre. Her subjects are provocative but never objectified. Some flaunt personal fantasies; others are guarded, suggesting that we have stumbled into a secret world. Either way, fashion and fantasy were never so enchantingly combined. These images were shot over the last 15 years and many are previously unpublished.

The U.S. Launch party is a private event, but invitations come with any purchase of the delectable and collectible collector's edition.

“The eclectic connoisseur of books brings his extensive collection of both hardbacks and paperbacks to SoHo in a Philippe Starck-designed space.”

“In its SoHo outpost, this Germany-based publisher stocks both hardbacks and paperbacks in a range of categories, from classics to pop culture. It’s a must-see.”

“Irreverent, trendsetting, prolific. Those traits are shared in heaping doses by TASCHEN and Philippe Starck, which is why the saucy German publisher and the bad boy French designer make such an electric pair. . .Now, having whipped up TASCHEN bookshops in Paris and Los Angeles, the firm known simply as Starck has moved on to New York for number three. The 2,700-square-foot two-level space is surprisingly straight-forward. Compared with the dark woods, organic squiggles, and lavish flourishes of the earlier TASCHEN interiors, this one is noticeably cooler, sparer, and, well, more New York.”
