Selected Quotations from International Media
“Irreverent, trendsetting, prolific. Those traits are shared in heaping doses by TASCHEN and Philippe Starck, which is why the saucy German publisher and the bad boy French designer make such an electric pair. . .Now, having whipped up TASCHEN bookshops in Paris and Los Angeles, the firm known simply as Starck has moved on to New York for number three. The 2,700-square-foot two-level space is surprisingly straight-forward. Compared with the dark woods, organic squiggles, and lavish flourishes of the earlier TASCHEN interiors, this one is noticeably cooler, sparer, and, well, more New York.”Interior Design, New YorkUnited States |

„20 Millionen Kunstbücher werden von TASCHEN heute weltweit an den Leser gebracht. Das ist mehr als jeder andere Verlag schafft … Nach Köln, Los Angeles und Paris ist jetzt auch New York an der Reihe … Endlich haben Benedikt Taschen’s Bücher eine feste Adresse in der verrücktesten Stadt der Welt.“Anyway, WienAustria |

“Bibliophiles have a new destination to frequent in SoHo – German publisher TASCHEN’s newest flagship in New York City. The 1,900 square-foot SoHo store is another collaboration with Philippe Starck, who designed TASCHEN flagships in Paris and Beverly Hills. Starck’s angled ‘floating’ bookshelves appear to sprout from concrete and are topped with video monitors. The work of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes adds movement and color to the space, and there is a downstairs gallery for special exhibits and events. The new store is a welcome alternative to the fluorescent glow of the ubiquitous super chains.”ARRAY, New YorkUnited States |

“Like all of its stores, Philippe Starck is the designer in charge. Offsetting the concrete floors and walls are large, vividly painted panels that double as wallpaper. A glass skylight at the back illuminates the downstairs gallery, boasting black-and-white photographs by Julius Shulman and the first egg chair by Danish designer Arne Jacobson.”Encore Magazine, New YorkUnited States |

"The eclectic connoisseur of books brings his collection to SoHo in a Philippe Starck-designed space featuring artwork by Beatriz Milhazes."In New York, New YorkUnited States |
