Selected Quotations from International Media
"(Benedikt Taschen) is cooler than you. But you can feel just like you're part of the martini-tossing smart set by visiting his new Philippe Starck-designed store in Beverly Hills. Well, store isn't quite accurate. More like repository of provocative images - a gallery of tasteful tastelessness, if you will. Enjoy flipping through lavishly-produced (and often astonishingly well-priced) books on everything from '60s SoCal social nudism to Indian interior design to Chinese Propaganda posters."28th Street, Los AngelesUnited States |

"The publisher of the "most exquisite books on the planet," as sex- and art-book purveyor Benedikt Taschen likes to call himself, has opened a West Coast outpost..."L.A. Confidential by Alex Worman, artnet.comUnited States |

Wild Volumes - Inside TASCHEN's startling new store by Greg Goldin Los Angeles Magazine, Los AngelesUnited States |

"Now, international art-book publisher TASCHEN aims to do things differently. Founded in Germany by Benedikt Taschen, the eponymously named firm has opened its first US outpost, in the heart of Beverly Hills. Designed by Philippe Starck, the store is a high, narrow space where the shelves are glossy walnut, the love seats are done up in golden leather, and an upstairs exhibition gallery is imported glass from Paris. The Euro sleekness could have made TASCHEN LA a forbidding place - even to browse; instead you feel as if you've wandered into a sophisticated literary boudoir. There is, for instance, the volume of photographs from Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki that sells for $2,000. And don't overlook GOAT, a photo tribute to Muhammad Ali. At 75 pounds, the "Champ's Edition" costs $7,500."Movieline's Hollywood Life, Los AngelesUnited States |
