Selected Quotations from International Media

"The sleek Philippe Starck-designed interior is the ideal setting for this publisher's visually arresting coffee table books, which cover everything from fashion to architecture."Lucky, New YorkUnited States |

"Art publisher and all-around provocateur Benedikt Taschen picked Beverly Hills for his first and only U.S. store, designed by Philippe Starck. Pick up, metaphorically speaking, Helmut Newton's mammoth SUMO or just flesh out (pun intended) your collection of erudite erotica."Style.com, New YorkUnited States |

"The TASCHEN store is an opium den of a bookstore, an irresistible emporium for all things excessive and escapist. Moving through Philippe Starck's reading room-style corridor, surrounded by Albert Oehlen's collages derived from the store's inventory, one is drawn in by all manner of extravagant volumes on art, architecture, advertising, urban archaeology, photography, film, travel, and erotica. TASCHEN's selection appeals to the vicarious, the voracious, and the voyeuristic."LA Weekly, Los AngelesUnited States |

"Taschen, a world-renowned book publisher and retailer, opened its first U.S. flagship in Beverly Hills, CA, last November. The German publishing company, founded by Benedikt Taschen, is known for provocative, artful and stylish books. The design had to represent art and intellect. American walnut dresses bookcases, flooring and ceiling, allowing the colorful book covers to stand out. Cast bronze fixtures, purple mirrors, golden leather and one-of-a-kind handmade glass walls are other design elements. Albert Oehlen, a German artist marked by his meshing of figurative and abstract art, created 20 works of art for the store in Beverly Hills. Oehlen's 20 computer generated collages for the walls and ceiling were construed from various TASCHEN-published books."DDI, AtlantaUnited States |
