I saw the work of Loretta Lux at the Armoury show in 04, I wasn't so sure about it, had doubts about its sincereity however, now I really love it.

Taschen must have alot of guilt and regrets about the amount of female artists its never published? I suppose that comes with job.

I really love Loretta Lux, I would love to have a book of hers, she is what I have been waiting for a long time. I do also like the work of Angela Strassheim, I think she is so funny and has such an unusual sense of things I find her really interesting.

Hi Taschen

Have you never considered a HUGE book that encompasses as much as feasibly possible of the life's works of the American artist Frank Frazetta? - his work goes way beyond pulp sensibility (although the apogee of that), has been hugely influential on popular culture, is steamingly erotic, and I hear he also does religious paintings so far unseen in public.

If you ask me that's got TASCHEN written all over it. In terms of good reproduction and quality control I would rather you do it for the mass market, much better than anyone else in publishing. I have absolutely no doubt it would be a bestseller.

It would be great for such a thing to appear while the man was still alive, so often folks seem to wait for an artist to die before they pay tribute.

Please tell me you are considering it!

You are so right. Frazetta is a phenomenal artist; I can't imagine how fabulous a Taschen retrospective would be. Taschen! Go for it!

Aubrey Beardsley had the most intricate abilty with design. it seemed to transcend theevery day. I think perhaps, this removed the humanity in his drawings.

Ihre Taschen-Reihe der Stilepochen und der einzelnen Künstler gefällt mit sehr gut. Auch die neue Ausgabe über Jasper Johns. Wann erschein eine Ausgabe über Gerhard Richter???

Please bring back the book of Tiki, I need it. And I'm sure theere are many of us in the Tiki comunity who feel the same way. While we are eagerly awiting Sven's new boo Tiki Modern, we still want to be able to look at The Original.

I was seriously tempted by the upcoming title "Tiki Modern" as this particular kind of kitsch was nonexistent where I live. After I bought "The Book of Tiki" to gain at least some insight into the topic, I changed my mind. The book may present a lot of pictorial material, otherwise unobtainable, but the text is somewhat lacking in a systematic approach. The book also contains DTP errors.
Disappointing, as I really love the rest of my Taschen books.

The best, no all are different. I always admired Taschen's sense of fun and play. Though it does lack seriousness.

in the book "Manet" by "Gilles Neret", I found many typing error with incorrect spelling. Especially in page 21. Here are corrections :
1. courtisan courtesan
2. paedophilia pedophilia
3. was send was sent

Also this book is full of vocabularies that are unfamiliar. The author seems to like to use big words to be admired by the readers, or show off his intelligence? It made me frustrated reading it. I couldn't go on one sentence without opening a dictionary.. I have read many art history books but this is the most hard-to-read book! Also the author mentions some names of some famous philosopher, without explanation of the contents of the book. Is he assuming that all people have read those books? If he wants to enumerate names of some books that most people have never heard of, he should at least mention what it was about.
I am actually a big fan of Taschen books. I just didn't feel good with the Manet book..

Dear Agatha, thanks for your comments about the text of the book "Manet" by Gilles Neret. We are sorry to hear that our book was so difficult and frustrating for you to read. But having checked the text, which is written in British English, again by another native speaker, we can say for sure that it is of a high quality. The difficulties you mention may be also due to the particular metaphorical and idiomatic language that the author has used in this book. Concerning the typing errors you listed, paedophilia and courtesan are used in British spelling, and therefore, no mistakes. With the other spelling you are right, there we have a spelling mistake which we will correct in eventual reprints. We are sorry for this. We hope that you continue to enjoy TASCHEN books despite this! Best, TASCHEN

Paedophilia is spelt correctly. It's only spelt pedophaelia in the USA.
