„Klein, schwarz und scharf, was hier im klassischen Comic-Schuber daherkommt ... Tom of Finland gilt als bahnbrechender Begründer homoerotischer Zeichenkunst.

The next must-have collection of TOF if you only got the "huge and thick" book - The Art Of Pleasure.
I will save the space here for others' words but just to give you an idea how turned-on I tried to get my copy innitially... A friend would re-order it in Singapore (Kinokuniya's first 50 copies sold out in less than 2 weeks as Christmas gift alone in December '05), fly out and pass it to me in Bangkok so I could bring in via KLIA easily. Get the picture? pSBblueMalaysia |

"The new TASCHEN collection, Tom of Finland: The Comic Collection, includes reduced-size versions of six of those early Mike comics and three of the Jungle Jack series, but the main draw is 26 of Kake comic books produced between 1968 and 1986. We never learn much about Kake except that he lives at Number 69 on an unnamed street. His chief activities are riding his motorcycle and having sex. Kake finds a wide variety of partners, allowing Tom opportunities to express all his fantasies. Sailors, lifeguards, cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, policemen, TV repairmen, gas station attendants - all are invariably handsome, brawny, and enthusiastically gay when Kake comes along."Chicago Reader, ChicagoUnited States |

"Everyone has heard of Tom of Finland and knows what the drawings look like. But for most of us, what we`ve seen are a handful of the exaggerated, erotic leathermen illustrations here and there. Now there`s a great selection of the artist`s hot-and-heavy work from 1968-1986—plus a never-before-published, 18-page erotic art story from 1948. A legend in erotica herself, editor Dian Hanson has written a great introduction covering Tom`s life and work, with photos included. This is an amazing collection and a real bargain."Mandate, New YorkUnited States |

"Here's something really tasty for all you comic art lovers-a collection of 5 volumes in a slipcase featuring the incredible talents of the artist Touko Laaksonen, the Finnish boy who became Tom of Finland, the pseudonym he adopted to avoid persecution so prevalent to artists appearing in explicitly gay publications in the 50s. ( ) This collection is the definitive guide to this incredibly talented artist..."Scots Gay Magazine, EdinburghUnited Kingdom |

"Best gift for your mate. Gay friendly publisher TASCHEN made a perfect selection from Tom of Finland. Each of five 192 page volumes features eight complete stories, including all twenty-six episodes of Kake, Tom`s infamous ultimate leather man. The stories are arranged chronologically in books sized to fit perfectly in one hand, with the whole set appropriately housed in a beautiful box. Enjoy this with your partner."Yes, TokyoJapan |

"Tom of Finland: The Comics Collection, Volumes 1-5, is a collection made up of erotic . . .well, dirty . . . drawings from the artists panel stories, some of which appeared for the first time in the legendary 1950s beefcake magazine Physique Pictorial. The art of Tom of Finland is probably an acquired taste, but it`s probably safe to say that the activity depicted in these little melodramas will be appreciated by at least a few people who aren`t offended by the sight of wildly over-endowed cops, sailors, cowboys, construction workers, and assorted leatherman."OutSmart, HoustonUnited States |
