I got this book as a birthday present back in 1999, and since then, this has inspired me to explore the nuances of male nude photography. The book presents itself as a definitive visual guide to the history of male nude photography. It's a rather hefty volume that spans a century of photographs. The ones from the turn of the century were particulary interesting--the sets, the poses and the quality of the photos. It is interesting to make a critical comparison of these compared to the sleek, art-directed ones of the present.
