"Questo libro è puro rap. E' più rap del rap. Il rap è una famiglia allargata, di quelle che ci sono oggi con tante figure paterne e tante mamme più o meno emancipate, ma il patriarca del rap l'Abramo del rap quello cha ha ascoltato per primo la chiamata e ha rotto le statue degli idoli per abbracciare il monoteismo personale (i'm the greatest) è lui the greatest MUHAMMAD ALI. Questo libro è come un disco, le sue parole sono salmi, le sue foto sono icone, le sue mosse sono danze sacre di una religione che coincide biblicamente con un popolo, quello degli afroamericani, che erano schiavi e hanno rotto le catene e ora stanno vagando per i deserti verso qualche tipo di terra promessa che ancora però non è chiaro dove sia. E' chiaro che noi qui nell'Italia di oggi non lo possiamo mica capire uno che si alza e dice, I'm the greatest, con quella faccia lì, con quegli occhi lì. Non ne sappiamo niente noi di essere un nero nell'America degli anni Sessanta. Eppure quell'energia ci condiziona, sentiamo che in quella personalità appuntita e sfacciata in quell'intelligenza forte e agile, in quella sbruffonaggine molto poetica c'è qualcosa che ci fa molto gola, quella condizione che ti fa alzare in piadi e dire, sentendo davvero nascere come un grido da dentro "I AM THE GREATEST", in faccia al mondo, a un mondo che ti guarda come un fenomeno da circo, che ti usa per giustificare il proprio "buon senso" il proprio conformismo senza gioia. Muhammad Ali non è un bullo ma un poeta, un autore, un attore, un atleta un artista, un politico, in una parola sola direi che è un PROFETA, uno che basta guardarlo per poter credere che esistono orizzonti che non ti saresti ma sognato. Bisognerebbe vedere un filmato di Alì, o leggere una pagina di questo libro, prima di andare a un colloquio di lavoro o a una cena con una (o uno, va benissimo anche per le donne questo libro) che ti piace: I nostri sono tempi che ci vuole coraggio per afforntare la vita e Muhammad Ali è un buon maestro perché è uno che ci ha sempre messo una buona dose di ironia e di cuore (coraggio agite con il cuore).
