Pedro Girao, Amy Cappellazzo, Brett Gorvy, and Laura Paulson hosted the launch of TASCHEN's Una Grande Storia Italiana: Valentino Garavani, and a private viewing of the Christie's Fall Sales of Post-War and Contemporary Art. Between the Basquiats and Warhols sat Valentino, signing the deluxe $4,000 and $1,000 versions of the tome, which is a collection of personal and professional images from his life and career. "I have so many souvenirs of my life," said Valentino. "I love all of the images, each one has a story and behind the smiles I wanted to remember the humor." As far as summing up his life in one book, Valentino wasn't concerned. "Well, it's a big book," he laughed. Fans and friends of the designer's greeted him and admired the gowns lining the space--as well as the enormous cloth-bound book; Dennis Basso examined the red satin case; Stefano Tonchi caressed the cover, and Zac Posen couldn't help but marvel.
