"This is an attractive edition, but historians were not necessarily in desperate need of it since many copies of Cellarius's work are available, including an online version (www.lib.utah.edu/digital/splash) But Robert van Gent has done a very good job of making Cellarius's work accessible to a more general public, and the merits of this should not be underestimated."

"In Harmonia Macrocosmica we are places among the gods and angels of the outermost celestial spheres, sharing a heavenly view of Earth nested within the Zodiac and looking down onto our world as if through a transparent globe. We are in the space of the cosmos, with all the cupids depicted in the places, thanks to this wonderful and important book that was an remains a triumph of human innovation."

“Andrea Cellarius’s elaborately illustrated atlas of the heavens, Harmonica Macrocosmica delves into the history of constellations, the physics of celestial bodies, Copernican theories on the inner workings of the cosmos, and much more, with accompanying text in English, German, and French. A thorough and worthy addition to any collection.”

“Suppose you could get hold of a copy of Harmonica Macrocosmica, the famous 17th-century celestial atlas by Dutch cartographer Andreas Cellarius, for just $125. Would you hesitate for even the briefest moment? Probably not. So why be concerned over the price of a magnificent facsimile edition of this splendid atlas? In a sense, it’s even better than the original, for it contains valuable background information and numerous magnified portions of the colorful plates. Buying this book is a no-brainer for anyone with an interest in the history of astronomy.”
