Codices illustres. The world's most famous manuscripts - Reviews

Page [1] [2] [3]
"The lavishly illustrated Codices Illustres includes 167 outstanding examples. It examines each in language that is deliberately untechnical, shedding new light on a venerable and rarefied field without in any way dumbing down its esoteric subject matter; and doing so in a format that is itself ravishingly beautiful - a sumptuous but affordable Christmas present."
House & Garden, London
United Kingdom
"It is the most beautiful book I have ever handled. It seems to cry out for a lectern on which to display it."
Mensa International Journal, London
United Kingdom

This is a beautiful book. The only disappointment is that you would want to have the complete versions of the books from which the pictures are taken. Perhaps Taschen would consider this?

"This book not only reproduces pages from the widest selection yet of European illuminated manuscripts-in gloriously sharp colour printing, with informative notes on their background-but also includes little-known contemporary painted manuscripts from Egypt, India, Persia, and the Asian steppes."
Daily Mail
United Kingdom
