Collecting Contemporary - Reviews
"According to Lindemann, who often lapses into a stock-speak indicative of his former career in finance, the 'macro theme started out as Art Collecting for Dummies.' The end result is infinitely more sophisticated. Inspired by Jack Schwager's 1989 book Market Wizards, a volume of Q&As with top hedge fund managers, Collecting Contemporary is a compilation of Lindemann's conversations with 40 art-world players. Museum of Modern Art director Glenn Lowry discusses the market influence of museum exhibitions. Larry Gagosian, Andrea Rosen, and Marianne Boesky each provide the dealer's point of view on how to gain access to good work. Most impressive of all, press-shy megacollectors like Eli Broad, Peter Brant, Charles Saatchi and Francois Pinault open up about their philosophies and strategies."W Magazine, New YorkUnited States |

I think a lot of art isn't pure, because the motive from which it is made isn't pure, then it becomes fashion. I don't think subsidising is the solution, then there are to many rules to which the artist has to conform oneself to.
An artist has to be artisticly independent, has to work with a pure motive to make a pure work of art. But hey, that doesn't always sell... IngridNetherlands |

"Collecting Contemporary is a well-organised set of interviews with the leading players - the dealers, collectors, art auctioneers and curators. Only an insider could have secured interviews with this elite... The resulting volume combines evangelism and indiscretion - it's both a 'how to' guide and an insight into the 'why'."Telegraph, Seven Magazine, LondonUnited Kingdom |
