Malevich - Reviews

Page [1]
"Containing over 100 images, great care has been shown in this book to display Malevich`s changing styles from the early Impressionist experiments, through Cubism and Futurism, to the development of the Suprematist movement. With this, the reader is able to see what can not really be put into words. Malevich in particular has often confused art experts with his varied thematic expressions and styles, and this book helps to dispel some of this confusion which was, to some extent, deliberate. Any reader wishing to gain an understanding of the importance of Malevich`s to early 20th century art should pick up this book."

"96 pages, un essai critique, une biographie, une illustration abondante : l'ouvrage édité par TASCHEN occupe le créneau éditorial de la monographie d'artiste à prix démocratique. Gilles Néret, en habile polygraphe, donne le maximum de ce qu'il est possible dans ce registre"

On a recent trip to New York City I visited the Guggenheim Museum where about fourty Malevich paintings were exhibited. Somewhat bewildered by the meaning of these works of art, I wanted to know more about the artist and his work, both before, during and after his Supremist style. The museum book was an outrageous price, and being Canadian (with the high exchange rate and the high hotel bills luring over my head) I had to think twice about buying it. Then I notice this little Taschen book on Malevich. I bought it immediately. The value of this book is uncomparable. Neret makes it easy to to learn about a complicated man and his art, and the reproductions are many and marvellous. Thanks Taschen, I now feel informed.
