Basquiat - Reviews
“Contemporary art lovers will definitely dig on Basquiat, a compilation of the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, one of the most admired artists to emerge from the ‘80s art boom.”Essence Magazine, New YorkUnited States |

The book is a welcome respite from Hoban's biography on Basquiat. It would appear as if the international perspective of Basquiat's works then, is more balanced. And fair. In that vein, this book is an in-depth evaluation of some of the meanings and nuances behind the artists' symbols on canvass, paper, etc. The books' author seems genuinely interested in how the artist came to create, and appreciative of what he created. A life which gave much to the generations in such a short span of time. An admirable job is done conveying Basquiats' sense of pupose to the reader. This book is not to be missed! Thank you for writing it.E. Fizer IIIUnited States |

"Farewell Basquiat, may the Lord grant you the ultimate paradise up in heaven above, Amen." Your Friend, Salah.
Throughout the entire history of art, a major fact can be concluded, which is: ART FOREVER REMAINS SUBJUCTIVE NOT OBJECTIVE,AND DEPENDS ON WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT APPEALS TO YOU. Here lies the difficulity of addressing fare evaluation and accurate critique and review. And when it comes to a Post-Modernist artist, such as Jean-Michel, the difficulity is greater, because there is a clear gap between realist and modernist art and so with an abstract expressionist art. Modern art does not apply traditional art technique or standard theories, such as proportion and measurement, nevertheless modern artist instead employ a free formula of random and imagination to express his artistic vocabularies and themes. Although I'm not writing review about Basqiat himself, but I feel the need to explor the significance of his contributions to our lives. His noble memory will remain ever alive in our hearts and minds, his too soon departure from our life will remain a landmark of an inspiration to all of us, as well as to the new generations yet to be born. The Book is a masterpiece by an standard, I have read many books about Jean-michel Basquiat larger in size than this, however, this one, the TASCHEN's publication is a unique product, visually very attractive, and artistically documents the work and the life one of the most controversial young artist in our time.
