I buy one Taschen book on artists every week and this week I bought the one on Vermeer. I can simply comment on the fact that Prof. Dr. Norbert Schneider has sucessfully conveyed each aspect of the Dutch master's art making each page more interesting than the previous one. Personally I always admired Vermeers paintings but found them quite simple and naive. After reading this book I have come to the conclusion that the symbolism of Vermeer's paintings so vividly explained and simplified by the author so that everyone can get a clear idea of what it's all about,is breathtaking. Wonderfully written. George Featham, Greece
