Will be investing in a legacy of Taschen books for my family and very torn about the "Genesis" edition, whether to go with the "collector" or "Art" edition. Cependant, en reprenant le livret de traduction en français, je me suis rendu compte que la phrase en gros caractère en haut de la page 29 du livre: "the producer.........be wrong", n'était pas traduite en français. | Gracias a Taschen puedo tener esos fabulosos catálogos de los fotógrafos que admiro. Pero el último libro de Salgado, Génesis, me ha decepcionado. Compré dos ejemplares en Amazon (uno para mí y uno para regalar) y ambos venían con los mismo defectos de guillotinado y las esquinas de las páginas defectuosas. Devolví un ejemplar unos 10 días más tarde y para mi sorpresa, pensando que el ejemplar de sustitución pertenecería a una tirada posterior, me encontré con que seguí teniendo los mismo defectos. Tengo todos los libros de Salgado, desde sus comienzos hasta la actualidad, publicados por varias editoriales. Y éste Génesis es probablemente el que menos me ha gustado ya que considero que un libro donde el 85% de las fotos son horizontales no debería estar hecho a doble página. Taschen ya sabe hacer libros de este tipo, lo hizo muy bien con África y no entiendo por qué ha dado un paso atrás. Un saludo. |

| Dear Julio, I can reply you only in English. We like the layout the way it is. I understand your point with the doublespreads that go through the gutter but tastes can be different. About the trimming problem: If you have a book like this with a series of fold-out pages (the Salgado book has 24 fold-outs) it can happen that the trimmer does not cut all middle pages properly and a small piece of the corner chip off. | Dear Frank. Thank you so much for your reply. Don't worry about English. I can understand but my written English isn't so good. I can't understand the preference for doublespreads. But the real problem is the cut of the edge of the pages.
