TASCHEN Store New York hosted iconic sports photographer Neil Leifer to celebrate the US publication of Ballet in the Dirt: The Golden Age of Baseball. Fans of Neil's, who has been shooting Big League games since he was a teenager, lined up early and squeezed up next to Leifer for photo opportunities as often as they could. A limited edition printing of Neil's baseball photography was on display in the gallery, offering guests a chance to see his nearly life-sized prints of Sandy Koufax on the mound and Roberto Clemente at bat. Wire Photographers, the Los Angeles Times, and representatives from Sports Illustrated, HBO Sports, NBC, ABC, a host of sports personalities, and other major media outlets were on hand to help Neil launch his beautiful new book.
